Diane Elaine Callaway

December 28, 1927 — September 21, 2024

Diane Elaine Callaway, 96 of Eastland, entered into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 21, 2024 in Eastland.
Diane was born December 28, 1927 in the Edna Gladney Home Ft. Worth, Tx. She was adopted at 6 days old by her loving family who adored her, they had wanted a little girl so badly. She graduated from North Side High School in Ft. Worth. She married Kenneth Owen Callaway, Sr. on Dec. 16, 1944 in Ft. Worth and they spent 68 loving years together before his death in 2013. She was a selfless servant who had a passion for helping others. If you were ever a guest in Diane’s home she was the first one up preparing things and the last to sit down or go to bed. She wanted you to be at home and comfortable and not want for anything. It truly made her happy serving others. In her early 40’s she became a licensed pilot and was very proud of that accomplishment and something she truly loved doing. She loved getting in the plane and flying around. When she quit flying she and Kenneth bought Siberian huskies and traveled with the show dogs all over the nation. Nikki was their prize show dog, a true champion and retired to be their pet. They also went into the mountains and would sled with the kennel of Huskies that they had. She was a lover of all animals. She had names for her squirrels wherever she lived. In their later life they had their beloved companion Sugar Pie a beautiful yellow lab. In the Nursing Home she made sure to always show people her pictures of Sugar and tell all the stories that she had about her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Zachariah Thompson and Verna Bernice (Woodward); husband, Kenneth Callaway, Sr.; brothers, Marvin Zell Thompson and Bob Bill Thompson; daughter, Neveda Bernice Brinkly; granddaughter, Melissa Franklin; grandsons, Clyde “Buster” Brown, Shane Melton Callaway and William Thomas Callaway.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth Owen Callaway, Jr. and wife Sherry of Eastland; grandsons, Sean (Melinda) Callaway of Kyle, Taylor (Mandy) Callaway of Seattle, WA, and Joel (Nory) Callaway of Mertzon; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was a humble servant and it is her request that there be a small intimate family memorial in Rockport where they spent so many happy years and request that their ashes and sugar pie’s ashes be rested there. Diane said she did not want a big memorial, She said “you know I’m not flashy like that”. Diane was very proud of her son’s ministry and the work he has done to serve the Lord. At her request in lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Knowing this Ministries, 158 County Road 594, Eastland, TX 76941.
