Doris Lavelle Brown

August 17, 1940 — July 28, 2024

Doris Lavelle Brown died peacefully surrounded by close family on July 28, 2024, at Stoney Brook of Belton Senior Living in Belton Texas.
She was born August 17, 1940, in Crane Texas, the daughter of Byron Wright Dennis and Sallie Lucille (Best) Dennis. She graduated from Crane High school Class of 1959. After High School she graduated from the Rutherford Metropolitan School of Business.
Here's a story she liked to tell;
One day she was invited to a Sunday School social by a handsome young man named Joe Brown. On the night of the social, a snowstorm came through and the snow was magically lit up by a huge bright moon. Joe drove her back to her car and offered to warm it up for her. He cleared away snow from the windows and then walked over and opened her door. He held out his hand. As she stood up, he gently pulled her close and she looked up into his "beautiful blue eyes". They had their first kiss. When telling this story Doris would say they fell in love at that moment.
They were married June 10, 1960, and celebrated 63 years of marriage in June of 2022.
Doris retired from American Airlines after a long, interesting career. She and Joe had close friends named Max and Fran Mcfatridge that traveled with them on as many as 19 trips to Hawaii together.
Doris loved art and enjoyed creating crafts to decorate her home and included them in gifts to friends and family. She was a faithful Christian and attended Randol Mill Church of Christ which later became North Davis Church of Christ for a total 64 years.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Joe, her brother Clayton and sister Patsy. Surviving is her sister Ann Miller of Arlington, sons Larry and his wife Robin of Salado, and Jeff and his wife Cathy of Haltom City, grandsons Eric Brown, Christopher Brown, granddaughters Skyla Runnerstrom, Caitlin Lange, and Erin Cruz, great grandsons Asher Brown, Levi Brown, Jessie Brown, Jordan Brown, Henry Lange and great granddaughters Freya Runnerstrom, and Zoey Brown.
