Adra Lee Fox, 92, of Eastland joined his wife, Evelyn, of 59 years on Thursday, January 16, 2014. Adra Lee was born October 4, 1921, on the family property at Lake Leon in Eastland County. He was the youngest of five children born to James Lafayette and Roxie Gullet Fox. Adra graduated from Olden High School in 1940. The Olden Homecoming Association has presented him several “Golden Oldie” Awards throughout the years. He entered the United States Navy in 1942 and was aboard the USS Tulagi. He received four battle stars for his WWII service. He served in Southern France, Lingayan Gulf, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. In 1945, Adra married the love of his life, Evelyn Crowell from Bandera.
He worked for Mobil Oil Company in Oklahoma and Texas. He settled at home in Eastland, upon retiring from Mobil, after 35 years of service. Adra enjoyed raising cattle, drinking coffee at the DQ and being at home on the river where he grew up. He was loved and adored by his family. He will be missed every day.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Evelyn, his parents, a grandson: Aaron Bowles, two brothers: Chuck and Lloyd and one sister: Ruby.
Survivors: He leaves to cherish his memories, his daughters: Della Ann Bowles, Elaine Fox and Lonny, his son: Greg Fox, sister: Hazel Reese, one granddaughter: Stephanie Davis, two grandsons: Dylan Bowles and fiancée Jesse Deitz, Cole Fox and wife Michelle, two great grandsons: Tyler Cox and Parker Purvis, his constant companion: Bud, other relatives and numerous friends.
Memorials: The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Aaron Bowles Scholarship Fund, Eastland High School, Eastland, Texas.
Graveside Service: 2 pm, Sunday, January 19, 2014, Merriman Cemetery, Ranger, Texas.
