Albert Garcia, 82 of Eastland, Texas, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, October 29, 2021. A private visitation was held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland, Texas. A Memorial Service/Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 in Waxahachie, Texas at the Ellis County Woman’s Building with Albert’s Son, Pastor Duane Garcia, officiating.
Albert was born on February 8, 1939 in Edinburg, Texas. He was the first born son of Winceslado and Trinidad Garcia. He quit school at the young age of 13 and became the main bread winner of his family. His 12 brothers and sisters looked up to him for support and guidance. During his early years he did many different jobs but he would eventually show an interest in plumbing, heating, air conditioning & electrical. He had a tremendous aptitude for learning.
Albert built his business on these self-taught skills. He made a name for himself in the community of Spur, Texas. He served as Mayor Pro Tem, opened an appliance business, served as City Council Member and served as a Council Member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. In time, he became known far and wide. Every time he took his family to neighboring towns they would meet someone who knew him.
On June 23, 1962, Albert married the Great Love of his life, Ruth Ann Hernandez. Like all relationships, there were highs and lows, times of plenty and times of struggle. Their love endured. He even called to her in his final days. Through his dementia and his pain, she was his rock.
Albert & Ruth’s children recall never knowing of their parents struggles. They only knew the fun and the laughter that they shared. They remember the silly games and races to the bedroom, while they clung to their dad’s legs so that their mom could win. They remember the wild jokes and the fun family trips. With the Garcia sense of humor, the Hernandez strength and their combined Faith, their children were blessed with amazing qualities. These qualities will reflect how Albert & Ruth taught their children the discipline to work hard; the compassion to show kindness to others; the empathy to share another’s pain; the heart to love unconditionally and the Faith to carry them through hardship.
Albert is preceded in death by his parents Winceslado & Trinidad Garcia and his sisters Elida Aguilar & Emma Riojas. He is survived & missed dearly by his wife Ruth Garcia of Eastland, TX, his sons Truitt Garcia of Sweetwater, TX, Duane Garcia (Lynne) of Greenville, TX, & Michael Garcia (Carol) of Eastland, TX, daughters Barbara Dunton (DeWayne) of Duncanville, TX & Rosie Webb (Clarence) of Waxahachie, TX, 13 Grand Children (Rene, TJ, Alex, Amy, Daniel Casey, Kelly, Christian, Hunter, Anthony, Ashton, Gabriel, Nicole, & Michael Ray), Brothers Noe Garcia (Aurora) and Raul Garcia (Mimi) of Waxahachie, TX, Robert Garcia (Naomi) of Amarillo, TX, and John Garcia (Annie) of New Port, FL , Sisters Stella Barron (Randolph) of Fate, TX, Mina Garcia (Joe) of Spur, TX, Maria Olivia Pena of Rio Grande, TX, Justa DeLeon of Waxahachie, TX, Laidy Vasquez and Lupe Barrera (Carlos) of Spur, TX, and several Great Grand Children, Nieces & Nephews.
