Alex Wetherbee Jr.

Eastland- Alex “Al” Wetherbee, 92 passed away on June 19 in Abilene TX. Grave Side services were held on Sat. June 22, 2019 at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery with Darrel Phillips officiating.
Al was born on Aug. 19, 1926 at Alexandria LA to Alexander P & Elizabeth (Wheadon) Wetherbee. The family moved to Paris TX where he grew up. He served in the Navy during WWII. Al had a love for racing boats – Hydroplane and won several National Championships. He also enjoyed flying. At one time Al, his brother Tommy and their Dad had shrimp boats and shrimped down the coast into Mexico.
Al worked in Civil Service at the Army Depot in Corpus Christi for over 26 yrs. before moving to Eastland in 1987 to retire and raise cattle.
Survivors include his daughter Lee Ann Goode & spouse Wilbur Yoder, a son: Steve & wife Lee Ann Wetherbee of Corpus Christi TX, a brother Tommy Wetherbee and wife Bettie of Orange Grave TX.
