Ancil (Tiny) King

Ancil (Tiny) King, 81 of Corsicana, passed away Sunday July 31, 2016 in Temple. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Flatwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland.
Mr. King was born January 1, 1935 at Olton, TX to Ancil V. King and Mattie (Miller) King. He attended elementary and junior high at Olton, and graduated in 1954 from Clyde High School, Clyde, TX. He married Dela Jan Fambrough on May 1, 1965 in Eastland. She preceded him in death on February 12, 2007. He worked 2 years as a heavy equipment operator in West Texas after graduation, and then was drafted into the US Army. After basic training, he attended Radio-Teletypewriter School for 8 months in Augusta, Georgia. He served 12 months in Korea, and was discharged with 2 letters of commendation and good conduct medal. After leaving the service, he worked for H.B. Zachry Company as Office Manager of aggregate plant in Eastland. In 1965 he purchased the plant and operated it until 1970 as King Aggregate Materials. In 1970 he went into a partnership with A.P. Fambro in F&K Tubing in Eastland, TX. At this time he purchased and installed a tube mill to manufacture steel tubing. This plant was sold in 1975 when he became plant superintendent at Abilene Steel, Inc. In 1976 he became partner in Abilene Tube & Channel, Inc. and was Vice President and General Manager. In 1984 he became General Manager at Leon Valley, Inc. in Carbon, TX. In 2002 he opened a branch of LVI in Coleman, TX. In 2009 he opened a branch in Montgomery, Alabama.
Mr. King said the best times were with his family, his church, and while he was flying.
Survivors include a son, Alan King; 1 step-son, Ronald Travis Pinkerton; 2 step-daughters, Cynthia Sharp Pinkerton, and Donna Sue Carlisle Pinkerton; 6 grandchildren, Robbie, Travis, Cassie, Kathryn, Kimberly, and Jacob; and 7 great-grandchildren, Mark, Case, Madison, Abby, Addison, Presley, and Harper.
Memorials may be made in Mr. King’s name to the Carbon Community Church, 515 E. Anthracite, Carbon, TX 76435.
