Anita Faye Franklin, 85 of Ranger, passed away Wednesday, December 16. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 19, at 1:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home in Ranger. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Evergreen Cemetery also in Ranger. Robert Bailey, Wayne Tanner, and Wilton Sankey will officiate.
Mrs. Franklin was born on October 21, 1930, in Gorman to Frank and Nellie (Maynard) Gryder. She grew up in the Romney Community as well as Gorman and Ranger.
Having graduated from Ranger High School and Ft. Worth School of Business, she also attended Ranger Jr. College and was active in the Beta Sigma Phi women’s sorority. She was employed by Panther Oil and Grease as a bookkeeper. Later, she worked as a nurse in the Hamlin Memorial Hospital in Hamlin. As an accomplished artist, she leaves a family gallery of oil paintings. Hobbies included sewing, singing, playing the piano, reading the Bible, and bringing a smile to others with her humming.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Romney Christadelphian Ecclesia. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Terry Bailey, in 1993.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Reba Bailey, of Snyder; two daughters, Kellie Coats of Ranger and Karen Weeks and husband Robert, of Eastland; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-granddaughter. She also leaves many friends and care-givers at the Ranger Care Center, and Dr. Robert DeLuca and the Acute Care Staff at Eastland Memorial Hospital.
