Arthur Gene Wood

Arthur Gene Wood, 79 of Eastland, passed away Saturday July 11, 2020 in Eastland. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Wednesday at the Lake Leon Baptist Church with Rev. Craig Rhoton officiating. Burial will follow in the Simpson Cemetery directed by Edwards Funeral Home of Eastland. The family will receive friends at Lake Leon Baptist Church Tuesday, 6~8 p.m.
Mr. Wood was born April 7, 1941 in Gorman, TX to Randal Floyd and Daisy Jewel (Hendricks) Wood. After graduating high school, he began working for Texas Electric Service Company where he remained a faithful employee throughout his entire life, until retiring as Chief Dispatcher. He married Tommie Janis Tidwell on December 9, 1971 in Odessa, TX.
He was a member of the Lake Leon Baptist Church, and enjoyed the outdoors, especially golfing, fishing, hunting, woodworking, and gardening. He loved watching old Westerns on television. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers (Clifton and James Wilburn Wood) and 1 sister, (Inez Etheridge).
Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Tommie Janis Wood of Eastland, Tx; 2 daughters, Janetta Wood of Cisco, Tx, and Dawn Michelle Riley and husband John of Eastland, Tx; 5 grandchildren, Dallas Williams and wife Mary Catherine of Joshua, Tx, Shina Britton and husband Jason of Eastland, Tx, Ebony Cornish of Indianapolis, In, Richard Cornish of Cisco, Tx and Tyler Riley of Eastland, Tx; 7 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
