Bessie Darlene Monroe

Bessie Darlene Monroe, 90, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Spouse, and Daughter, was called to her eternal resting place on December 11, 2022. She entered this world on October 22, 1932 in Bryce, Texas, born to Owen and Faye Palmer. Married Hubert H. Monroe on April 30, 1951. They owned Monroe's Grocery and Meat in Mineral Wells for many years. Darlene worked several jobs as a waitress because she loved meeting people and she made friends very easily.
In her life she enjoyed bowling and was in a bowling league. She also enjoyed dancing and won a dance contest in her earlier years. Her prize was a set of dishes. She could jitterbug like nobody's business. She just loved to dance. In her later years she loved working in the yard and planting flowers. It would give her much joy to be outside trimming and pruning to make everything pretty.
For the past four to five years, she loved attending Palo Pinto County Cowboy Church (PPCCC) and being involved with greeting people as they came through the doors. It gave her much joy. She had may friends there that loved and cared for her she will be greatly missed.
Darlene was preceded in death by her her husband, Hubert H. Monroe; parents; two daughters that passed away two hours after birth; two brothers; Buddy and Rex Palmer.
She is survived by her two daughters; Cindy Shafer and Brenda James and husband Billy of Gordon, Brothers; Kenny Palmer and wife Paulette from Amarillo, Texas, Ray Palmer of Garner, Texas. She also raised four nieces and nephews; Linda Teague of Crowley, Texas, Tracey Holland of Mineral Wells, Texas, Ray Palmer of Tolar, Texas and David Palmer, of Mineral Wells, Texas, grandchildren Sherrie Evans, Stephanie Fleharty, Melissa Begley, Amy Terrell, Robbie Begley and Christopher Terrell. Seven great grandchildren and sever nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services officiated by Roger Keck and be held at Memorial Gardens in the Valley, Weatherford, Texas on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at 10:00 AM. Address is 5600 Mineral Wells Highway, Weatherford Texas 76088.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palo Pinto County Cowboy Church.
