Betty Cathey

Betty Sue Cathey, age 79, of Richardson, TX, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Richardson Methodist Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on December 1, 1933 to Jesse and Bessie Swift. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Squire Burton Cathey. She is also survived by her son, Carl Cathey and his husband Jimmy Moe of Grass Valley, CA; her daughter, Deena McElroy and husband Nickey McElroy of Richardson, TX; son, Brad Cathey and wife Julie of Millsap, TX; 5 grandchildren, Nigel McElroy of Richardson, Morgan Cathey Clark and husband Brett and Shelby Cathey both of Gordon, TX, Lane Strickland and wife Melissa of San Angelo, TX and Jacob Strickland of Millsap, TX; 4 great-grandchildren, Jasper Clark, Jace Strickland, Peighton Strickland and Serenity Van Houghton. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whose lives were touched in many ways by Betty. She was preceded in death by brother, Lloyd Swift; sister, Iona Houchin and brother, Harold Swift. Visitation will be held Wednesday February 27, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Edwards Funeral Home in Strawn, Texas. A graveside service will be held at the Van Sickle Cemetery, Caddo Mills Texas on Thursday February 28, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.
