Betty Doris Daniels

OLDEN – Betty Doris Daniels, 77, of Olden went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 26, 2014. Services for Betty will be Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 2:00pm at the Bakker Funeral Home Chapel in Eastland, TX. Burial will follow at the Eastland City Cemetery.
Betty was born on March 8, 1937 in Eastland, TX to John Martin Smith and Ruby Slaughter Smith. She graduated from Olden High School and moved away from Eastland County for a time, living in several different places. She eventually moved back to Olden. Locally, Betty worked as manager of both the Dairy Treat and the Dairy Queen.
Betty was a lady of many interests. She loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. At one time she began working towards getting her Pilot License and Betty played Semi-pro Basketball for a team in Abilene in the 1950’s. She enjoyed doing ceramics and loved to help people when she could. Betty was a hard worker and a wonderful Mom to her son.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: John Smith and Mike Smith.
Betty is survived by her son Marty Daniels and his wife Cindy of Olden, Granddaughters: Katie Daniels of Olden and Jessica Daniels of Dallas and one great-grandchild, Rylee Martin Daniels. She is also survived by three nieces: Crystal Wheeler, Debra Hyman, and Calandra Pratt and many cousins.
