EASTLAND - Billie Jean Mahaney, age 87, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. Graveside Services for Billie will be at 2 pm Monday, February 22, 2021 at Eastland City Cemetery. Family will gather an hour before the service at Edwards Funeral Home at 411 S. Mulberry in Eastland.
Billie was born February 12, 1934 in Rising Star, TX to Jess and Alene Jones Carter. She was a graduate of Rising Star High School then moved to Eastland and went to work for Hollywood Vassarette. She married Max Ray Mahaney and they made their life together in Eastland until he preceded her in death in 2012. After the Vassarette closed, Billie went to work at the Eastland High School as a cook and Eastland National Bank as a teller until she finally retired. She loved being outdoors on the farm, camping and fishing and loved following her grandchildren around, staying busy in their lives. Billie was a hard worker and loved her family with her whole heart. Even after her body began to let her down, it never stopped her from being apart of her grandkids lives.
Billie is survived by her children; Terry Mahaney and wife Brenda, Larry Mahaney and wife Melissa, Bob Mahaney and wife Jennifer, Diane Campbell and husband Ricky and Phyllis Lewis, many-many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, brothers; Joe Carter and Eldon Carter and sister Carolyn Bays and a precious granddaughter, Dallas Ann.
