Bobbye was born on September 10, 1926 in DeLeon, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, R.H. “Pepper” Hicks, her parents Joe and Edna Holleman, and her five siblings. Bobbye is survived by her three daughters; Edna (Ronnie) Tate, Brenda Harral, and Susan (Jim) Mullins, as well as a multitude of beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces/nephews.
She married the love of her life, Pepper Hicks in 1946, and moved with him to Gordon. They celebrated 57 wonderful years together!
Bobbye was a graduate of Brantley Draughon Business College. She was a teacher’s assistant and librarian at Gordon ISD for 15 years. With her caring, optimistic, and generous heart, she was positive influence on hundreds of children.
She was an accomplished seamstress and one of the “Original Quilters” at the Methodist Church. She was also a committed church member, volunteering and serving in any capacity over many years. An accomplished homemaker, wife, and mother, her lemon pound cakes and fruit cobblers were favorites by family and friends at all gatherings and first to go at local bake sales.
The only strangers she knew were the friends she hadn’t met yet. One of her favorite pastimes was keeping in touch with friends and relatives over the phone. Full of love, grace, and charm, this wonderful woman was a shining example for ALL of us!
