Brett J. Arther, 61, a life-time resident of Eastland, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Eastland City Cemetery with Dr. Shawn Brewer officiating. The family will receive friends at Edwards Funeral Home Friday, 5~7:00 p.m.
Brett was born on April 15, 1953 in Eastland to Bill Arther and Mary Jane Wilson Arther. He graduated from Eastland High School. He married Sharon Steddum in Eastland on August 10, 1972. She preceded him in death on April 19, 2014. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eastland, worked for Sterling Monument Company, and was a member of the Eastland Masonic Lodge #467. He was also preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his daughter, Christy Dianne (Arther) DiBartolomeo and her husband Michael and grandson Dixon of Joshua; mother, Mary Jane Batts of Eastland; brothers, Mike Arther of Eastland, Phillip Arther and wife Sherry of Eastland, and Thane Arther of Fort Worth; a brother-in-law, Clifton Boyd Steddum and his wife Glenda of Clyde; and many nieces and nephews.
