OLDEN – Burl David McGraw, III “Dave”, 72 of Olden, passed away peacefully Thursday July 25, 2019 in Ft. Worth. The family will receive friends at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland Thursday, 6~8 p.m. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Merriman Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the Leon River Cowboy Church in Olden.
Dave was born June 15, 1947 in Eastland to Burl David McGraw, Jr. and Bettye Yielding McGraw. He grew up in the Olden Community. He graduated from Olden High School in 1965; and was King of Olden High School the same year. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War from 1965-1967. He was Petty Officer on the USS Henrico, and USS Polk County 1084.
He served over 30 years in the ministry as the pastor of many great churches throughout Texas. Towards the end of his career, Dave served in the prison ministry traveling weekly to multiple Texas prisons sharing the love and forgiveness of Christ to inmates and their families. He loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle as well as buying, restoring, and selling Harley’s. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a faithful member of Leon River Cowboy Church, and loved playing with his best friend and dog “Dave”. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Shelley Riley of Magnolia, TX, and Sherrey McGraw of Arlington, TX; 4 grandchildren, Blake Yeary and Drew Yeary from Magnolia, TX, and Brady McGraw and Skye McGraw from Arlington, TX; as well as many cousins and a lot of friends.
