Carl Gene Young

Carl Gene Young, age 74, went home to be with the Lord Friday, August 14, 2020 at his home in Mingus. A graveside service for Carl will be 2 pm Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at the New Gordon Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Strawn. Family and friends will gather from 5-7pm Tuesday at the funeral home located at 215 E. Housley in Strawn, TX.
Carl was born February 11, 1946 in Oklahoma to Auther M. and Eurena Hays Young. He was a life-long resident of Mingus and worked as a construction worker for Texas Department of Transportation. He loved to go coon hunting, fishing, and was a member of the Mingus Baptist Church.
On December 12, 1966 he married Mary Baker in Strawn, TX and they have stood beside each other for nearly 54 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; sons, Carl Kevin Young, Auther David Young, and Jason Thomas Young; daughter, Gloria Candace Young; siblings, Kenneth Young (Dianna), Charles Young, Randy Young (Jody), Rodger Young (Susie), Gracie Ernest (Billy Ray), Jolene McAnelly (Allen), and Marilyn Faye Kring; 9 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; son, Rodney Young; and siblings, Georgia McCloud, Brenda Purcell, Vicky Ray Young, Joe Lynn Young, John Wayne Young and Lavon Young.
