Carol Jean Pletcher, age 69, of Eastland, Texas passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024 following a slow hard illness. A celebration of her life will be held on March 10, 2024 at Gorman Methodist Church at 3:00 PM.
Carla was born on Saturday, August 7, 1954 in Eastland to Jack Wood and Jean Fowler. In 1972, she married Mark Rice and they had a wonderful son Rodney. Later they divorced and she married George Pletcher. She was proceeded in death by her parents and Rodney. A part of Carla left when Rodney went away.
She got a GED and attended a college at Boise State for a little while. She loved her family, enjoyed antiques, feeding and watching the birds and flowers. Carol went to church growing up but somehow was never baptized.
In 1999 at the age of 45 she decided to be baptized and join the Catholic Church. It was something she was called to do. Thanks to Lynn, Father John and the Holy Spirit. She was baptized in April 22, 2000.
Carla and George had three anniversaries. On April 7, 1979 they began their life together. Then in July 9, 1982 when they went to the Justice of the Peace. Lastly, Father John made us marry again through the Catholic Church. I would marry her again if I could.
She is survived by her loving husband, George Pletcher; brother, Troy Wood and wife Dee of Stephenville; sister, Bonnie Kay Rice and husband Jim, two nieces and two nephews, three great nieces and great nephew, and last but not least a great grandniece, Gabby, who is just adorable.
Please no gifts or donations except to those in need. Smile when you can, sing when you can’t and pray with all your might bring one more light.
Carla, thanks for being here. You will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
