Carolyn Anita McQueary Gilbert, 78, passed from this life to the next on May 27, 2019. A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 1 PM at the New Gordon Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Edwards Funeral Home of Strawn.
Carolyn Anita McQueary was born on March 4, 1941 in Gordon, Texas to Raymond McQueary and Virginia Hart McQueary. She graduated from high school in Grand Prairie. Carolyn married Bradford Lynn Gilbert on November 7, 1987 in Santee, California. She worked as a bar manager for the VFW, and also worked for Girling Home Healthcare. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and DAV Auxiliary. Mrs. Gilbert enjoyed working around her home, gardening, and tending to her roses and plants.
Survivors include her husband, Bradford Gilbert; son, Troy Paul Sommer and wife, Raylene; step-daughter, Carol Dawn Gilbert; brothers, David Hart McQueary and wife, Cathy and Michael Scotte McQueary; sister, Dee Lois Krier and husband, Gary; and two grandchildren, Tiffany Anna Marie Byers and John Paul Sommer.
