Charles Douglas Chaney, 76, of Eastland, passed away peacefully, Saturday, December 23, 2017, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene surrounded by his family. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 28th at the First Baptist Church in Eastland with Bobby Broyles officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastland City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday at Edwards Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m.
Charles was born January 6, 1941, in Moran to Charles Burette Chaney and Margie Corine (Williams) Chaney. After graduating from Eastland High School, he attended Cisco Jr. College. He married Carolyn Ann Muller on July 12,1968, in San Angelo. He worked in the oil and gas industry retiring from Lone Star Gas after 23 years, Chaney Gas Company after 11 years, and Energex after 10 years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, target shooting, and he especially loved Maverick football.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Judy Chaney.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Chaney; a son, Charles Howard Chaney & wife Laura of Burleson; a daughter, Connie Sanderson of Eastland; a brother, Gayle Chaney & wife Julie of Eastland; and two grandchildren, Brittney Sharratt & husband Spencer of Crowley, and Easton Sanderson of San Angelo.
