Charles Underwood

Charles Underwood passed away Monday, May 13, 2013 in Abilene, TX. Charles was born April 24, 1922 in Eastland County to Will and Della (Hall) Underwood.

Charles was a Church of Christ. Charles proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. After the Air Force he went to work in Oregon as a lumberjack. He married Hazel Cox Reid on December 14, 1962 in Abilene, TX. They have been married for 50 wonderful years. Charles worked for TU Electric for 32 years before retiring in Eastland. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. His family and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. Charles will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

Charles is survived by his wife, Hazel Underwood of Eastland; son, Mike Reid of Eastland; daughter, Shirley Kinser and husband CR of Eastland; grandchildren, Toby Sparkman and wife Nicole of Eastland, Shea Schafer and husband Brian of Eastland, Chance Reid and wife Amiee of Tampa, FL, Courtney Harbin and husband Chris of Odessa, TX and Colby Reid and wife Melinda of Tyler, TX; great grandchildren, Grayson and Braydon Sparkman, Kaitlyn, Haley and Bailee Johnson all of Eastland, TX, Devon and Kyla Reid of Tampa, FL, Rykin and Sawyer Harbin of Odessa, TX, and Jaxon and Jesse Reid of Tyler, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Della Underwood.

Graveside services will be held Friday, May 17, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Alameda Cemetery in Eastland County. Visitation will be held Thursday May 16, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland.
