Charles Walker

December 30, 1928 — June 10, 2012

Charles George Walker, of Eastland, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012 in Eastland. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Daugherty St. Church of Christ with Larry Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastland City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m.

Charles George Walker, was born and raised in De Leon, Texas. He married Velma (Lou) Rose on June 22, 1952 in Ranger, Texas. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1950 where he trained as a jet fighter pilot. He retired from the Air Force in 1975 as a Lieutenant Colonel after serving in the Korean War and the Vietnam War. After retirement from the Air Force, he became a farmer/rancher in the Eastland area raising pecans, cattle, hay and other farm products.

Charles was very active in the church. He first served as a Deacon and then as an Elder at the Daugherty Street Church of Christ in Eastland, Texas for more than 15 years. He was a wonderful and kind person. He was adored by his wife, children and grandchildren and was a dear friend to many people that he knew. He truly will be missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Nancy Walker; four brothers, Elvin, R.D., Bill and S.W.; and one sister, Flossie B. Coan.

Charles is survived by his wife, Lou Walker; daughter, Cindy Williams and husband Ralph of Kaufman; son, Steve Walker and wife Chol Sun of Mansfield; grandchildren, Caitlin Williams of Kaufman and Ellis and Elanna Walker of Mansfield. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other kin and many friends.
