Chester Buddie Mayo

Chester Hugh Mayo AKA Bud Mayo, 72, went home to be with the LORD on December 12, 2014. Visitation for Bud will be Monday, December 15th 6 to 8 PM at Edwards Funeral Home Strawn. Funeral Service Tuesday, December 16th 1 PM at First Baptist Church of Gordon with burial following at New Gordon Cemetery. At the time of his death, he was in the Senior Care Centers of Stephenville for physical rehab after recent hip surgery.
He was born October 1, 1942 in Gordon Texas to Chester and Hettie Mayo. He attended Gordon School most of his school years, moved to Buckner Orphans Home of Dallas late 50’s and graduated there in 1960. After graduation, he joined the Army stationed in Terrell. He married Mary Lou Griffin and they lived in Caribou Maine where he was stationed at Niki and their daughter Pam was born, they moved to Dearborn Michigan and Nadja was born. While he was in Detroit, he attended Ford Community College and then worked his entire life as a pipefitter for General Motors Corporation. He was a member of the UAW. He retired from GM in 2004 from the Arlington Plant.
He is survived by his former spouse and life friend, Mary Lou Mayo of De Soto, daughters; Pamela Mayo and Nadja Schultea of Gordon, grandson Sterling Griffin of Florida, granddaughter Paislie Schultea of Gordon, great granddaughters; Riann Mayo of Justin and Rae Lynn Mayo of Duncanville, sisters; Anna Finch of Duncanville, Mary Sue Mayo and husband Bob of Oklahoma City, Ok., Wanda Mayo Thornton and husband Troye of Gordon, Pamela Mayo McQueary and husband Eddie of Strawn, one brother in law DeLayne Scarbrough of Hockley, a host of nieces and nephews and very special friends from a lifelong career at General Motors, as well as Buckners Alumni, and dear friends from The Mule Lip in Mingus.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Paul Mayo of Dallas, parents, and four sisters, Mozelle Terry, Lucy McGraw, Edna Agee, and Janie Scarbrough.
