Cora McCoy Hensley Franklin, 93, passed away at Ranger Care Center in Ranger, Texas Sunday August 15, 2021. Visitation will be Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 1-3:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland, Texas with a graveside service following at Eastland City Cemetery around 3:15 PM.
Cora was born September 24, 1927 in Pleasant Grove, Eastland County, Texas. She attended school at Morton Valley, Eastland High School and graduated Scoggins Beauty School. She married Vernon Lachester Franklin in Stuttgart, Arkansas on September 4, 1945. They lived in Eastland until 1968 when they were transferred to Junction, Texas. They moved back to Eastland after they retired in 1990 where they raised cattle on the Franklin Family Farm.
Cora was a devoted wife, mother of three sons, an expert hairdresser, great cook, and artist. She loved working in her yard and loved gardening. Cora will be loved, cherished, and remembered forever.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Lachester Franklin; her father, William Elnos Hensley; mother, Roxie Lee Thomas Hensley; sisters, Janie Seabourn and Modell Daniel.
Survivors include sons, Vernon Chris Franklin of Vernon, Texas, Jerry Steve Franklin and wife Mary Susan (Vavrina) Franklin of Early Texas, and David Dale Franklin and wife Barbara Ann (Mims) Franklin of Junction, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
