Dale Dwain Carmack

January 8, 1951 — March 8, 2016

Dale Dwain Carmack passed from this world on March 8, 2016. He is at rest with his Heavenly Father. Visitation for Dale will take place at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland, Texas on Thursday, March 10, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will also be held there Friday, March 11, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.

Dale was born on January 8, 1951 in Ranger, TX. He could not wait to start life and came 2 months earlier than expected. A childhood accident caused him to lose his left eye, but Dale did not let this hinder his enthusiasm for life. Dale excelled at everything he did. He was a master mechanic, carpenter, welder, and electrician. He could also drive any vehicle made (although he preferred Ford trucks). He was the first person family and friends called when help was needed. He always gave of himself and asked for nothing in return.

In his younger years, he worked in construction and the oil field all over Texas. He was also a Fireman for the city of Eastland. He found his calling working for the Texas Department of Transportation as an all-around expert and won numerous awards and accolades before his retirement in October 2011. As with everything, Dale gave 100% to his work, being the on-call person whenever needed.

Dale was not all work and no play he had many hobbies and interests. He loved to camp with family and friends. He chaperoned many Boy Scout outings across the state. He was especially proud of his membership and participation in the Sons of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Auxiliary. Dale attempted to join the military twice and was rejected because of his eye. He wanted to join and volunteer for Vietnam so his brother would not have to go.

Dale didn’t ask for much of life. He was always a giver to family and friends. He was happiest when he was helping others. A visit from Dale was sure to include him fixing something that needed repair. He will forever be remembered by his friends and family for his unwavering loyalty and unconditional love. He opened his heart and was a mentor to many children. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Ranger, Texas.

Dale was predeceased by his parents, Ira Jay (Bud) and Katherine (Herrell) Carmack, and his brother J.M. Crow. He is survived by the love of his life, DaNelle, who he met later in life but he enjoyed his short time with her. He adored his two beloved daughters, Cindy Carmack Rebber and Susan Carmack Lester. He was a wonderful step-father to Ralene and Brayden Pugh. He also helped raise many children who were like his own including his foster son, Tyler Sharp. He is also survived by his brothers, W.J. (Bill) Carmack and Melvin Carmack, and sister, Cora Wright.
