Mr. Dean Edward Barnett, 79, of Spanish Springs, Nevada passed away on October 24th, 2023. He passed peacefully at the Hospital surrounded by loved ones in Sparks, Nevada.
He was born on September 19th, 1944, to doting parents Billy Joe and Robbie Barnett in Gorman, Texas.
During his childhood, he moved between Texas, California and New Mexico. As a teenager, he and his parents eventually settled in California, and he graduated from Castro Valley High School.
Dean joined the Operating Engineers Local #3 and completed his apprenticeship. He worked through the Union as a Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic. He eventually ventured out on his own and worked independently in the industry.
He was cruising East 14th St in San Leandro, California where he met Barbara Filinick and they were married from 1972-1987. They had two beloved daughters together, Jan and Jamie Barnett.
He enjoyed racing around in any one of his sports cars throughout the years, riding his motorcycle with friends to new destinations, tinkering around in the garage creating new projects, styling his hair to perfection, and he always loved his mothers' cooking.
He relocated in 2009 to Spanish Springs, Nevada. You could find him gardening his beds of roses, watching old westerns, listening to country music, or calling family to talk endlessly about conspiracy theories.
He is survived by his two beautiful Daughters; Jan McWilliams and Jamie Fenton. He had 5 Grandchildren whom he was incredibly proud of; Kiran McWilliams, Riley Fenton, Kyla McWilliams, Shane Fenton and Ian Fenton.
He also left behind his Dearest Friend, Mina Delapena, who he lovingly referred to as, “Friends Forever”.
Services will be held for Dean at the Eastland Baptist Church in Eastland, Texas. He will be laid to rest at the Murray Memorial Cemetery in Carbon, Texas. A reception will follow at the Eastland Baptist Church.
