Dolores (Lori) Dianna Powell, 66, went home to be with Jesus on November 12, 2021 while surrounded by family in Abilene.
A memorial service will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, November 20, 2021, at First United Methodist Church of Eastland.
Lori was born on October 26, 1955 in Brownwood, Texas to Kenneth and Inge Becht Sheffield. She married William Powell on November 2, 1990 in Brownwood and she was a retired bookkeeper for Jay-Way Supply. Lori was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Eastland serving on the Administrative Council and the SPR Committee. Her favorite things were family, grand and great-grandchildren. She loved playing cards, Bingo and especially loved Halloween and Christmas holidays. She didn’t ever meet a stranger.
Lori was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Sheffield, daughter: Samantha Lavengood; and grandson: Stetson Hogue.
Survivors include her mother: Inge Becht Sheffield of Brownwood; her husband: William Powell of Eastland; sons: Rodney G. Powell of McGregor, Texas, Billy Wayne Powell and wife Lynne of Groesbeck, Texas, Donald Dwayne Lavengood and wife Amanda of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Travis Woodley of Eastland; daughter: Glynnis Adams and husband Raymond of Groesbeck, Texas; brothers: Tim Sheffield and wife Treva of Brownwood and Keith Sheffield of Michigan; sisters: Patricia Arnold, Jackie Oliver and husband Rodney, all of Brownwood, Barbara McDaniels and husband Doug and Melissa Kirchner all of Colorado Springs; grandchildren: Samantha Woodley, Samantha Cloud, Madelyn Adams, Jakob Smith, Seth Coalter, Justin Hogue, Austin Hogue, Trace Lavengood, Bruce Lavengood, Kristi Hendriks and husband Lee and Kayla Courtney and husband Brandon; and numerous other great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Eastland, Texas.
