Dwaine Milford Petty, Sr. passed from this life Saturday, October 13, 2012 at his home in Gordon, TX. Visitation will be from 6~8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Edwards Funeral Home in Strawn, TX. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 17th at the First United Methodist Church in Gordon, TX with Star Bowen officiating. Interment will follow in the New Gordon Cemetery. The family request memorials be made to Texas Cowboys Against Cancer.
Dwaine was born December 20, 1927 in Gillham, Arkansas to Ben and Exie (Brewer) Petty, where he graduated from high school. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Lillie Bostick in Grapevine, TX on April 4, 1980. Dwaine owned and operated ABASCO Aluminum Company. He loved to hunt, fish and work with horses.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie Petty; one son, Dwaine Milford Petty, Jr; one daughter, Sarah E. VanDeren; one brother, Wilburn Petty; four sisters, June Jackson, Vern English, Marie McGraw, Sindy Vodron; step-children, Colby Clark, Sherri Morton; twelve grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
