Dwight Squiers, 74 of Eastland, passed away on September 29, 2018.
Dwight was born on May 23, 1944, in Ranger, TX to Eddie and Mildred (Sharp) Squiers. He graduated from Ranger High School in 1962. He served in the US Air Force from years 1962-1969 and fought in the Vietnam War. He was an E5 Staff Sergeant.
Dwight worked for his father for years at Squiers Farm Store both in Eastland and Brady. He was also employed with the Dr. Pepper Vending Company in Ranger, Fort Worth Star Telegram as a contractor where he oversaw distributions in Eastland County for more than a decade and for Ray Ritchey Oil as a surveyor. He was also the owner/operator of Squiers Service Center on Main Street in Eastland for several years.
He is preceded in death by his father, Eddie Squiers; mother, Mildred Sharp Squiers; sister, Anna Matthias; and brother, Charles Squiers.
He is survived by his children: Lisa Hutcheson of Eastland, Kim McCaslin of Weatherford and Thomas Squiers of Fort Worth; grandchildren: Melissa Hutcheson of Eastland, Skyler Hutcheson Seaton of Gorman, Cody Hutcheson of Abilene and Tyler McCaslin of Weatherford; brother-in-law, Hugh Matthias of Hurst, TX; nephew Chip Matthias of Irving, TX; along with other great-grandchildren, a great-nephew, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Dwight’s wishes were to not have a formal funeral. The family will have a private service where Dwight’s cremains will be inurned in the family plot in Eastland Cemetery at a later time. The family asks that donations be made in his memory to Disabled American Veterans (dav.org), Eastland Memorial Hospital or the charity of one’s choice.
