Edgar “Eddie” Ray McCollum, 66 of Aledo, passed away Friday November 11, 2022 in Weatherford.
Eddie was born January 25, 1956 in Lubbock, TX to Joe Frank McCollum and Barbara Ann Philley McCollum. After high school he received his Associates Degree from Cisco Jr. College. He married Mary D’Ann Morgan on November 15, 1976 in Cisco, Tx. He was a member of the North Side Baptist Church in Weatherford. He retired from Brookshire’s. His father preceded him in death in 2000.
He was a loving father and a faithful husband. He was dealt a very hard hand when he got a brain tumor at a young age but defied the odds not only by living, but holding down steady work while raising 3 children along with his wife. The last several years had been extremely difficult but his grit and determination helped him to get as far as he could before he ultimately succumbed to his numerous ailments. He enjoyed reading while his mind was still able to follow the storyline, he always talked about fishing, and he was a committed NASCAR and Star Trek fan. His grandchildren loved playing with him and he was always interested in a good party!
Survivors include his mother, Barbara McCollum; wife, Mary D’Ann McCollum; sons, Joe Malcome McCollum; Edgar Matthew McCollum and wife Kamille and their daughters Aspen, Ainsley and Archer; daughter, Julie D’Ann McCollum and her husband Kenneth Stanley their boys Kenny, Andrew and daughters Danielle and Julie Grace; brother, Joe Don McCollum; sister, Connie Dianne McKenzie and brother-in-law Alan McKenzie; and close friends Susan and Greg Barnes.
A private memorial service will be held at Jo-Bar Going Home Cemetery located on the family ranch at a later date.
