Effie Mae Covey

July 17, 1952 — January 4, 2020

Effie Mae Covey went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 4, 2020 at home with her family. Her services will be 2 pm Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, Strawn, TX. A visitation will be Tuesday, 6-8 pm at Edwards Funeral Home in Strawn. Burial will be at Mt. Marion Cemetery in Strawn, directed by Edwards Funeral Home.

Effie was born in Amarillo, TX to Joseph Benjamin Shubert and Lena McCoy Shubert. She earned her GED and was lovingly known as Granny. She was a member of the Frist Baptist Church of Strawn. Effie loved spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids and enjoyed playing the lottery and bingo.
Effie is survived by her four daughters, Kay Shubert, Debbie Smith and husband James, Nancy Montgomery and husband Monty, Pamala Covey and Ashley. She is also survived by one brother J.L. Shubert, two sisters; Sybil Bailey and Ruthie Leath and life-long soulmate Roger Covey, 11 grandkids and 14 great-grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.B. and Lena Shubert, Sisters; Shirley Kempf, Sue Halloway, Nancy Couger, Josie Webb and a daughter, Wendy Covey.
