He served his local community in Ranger as Water Commissioner and member of the Kiwanis Club, and was named Honorary Mayor of Ranger. Ellis was a friend to many people, helping those he could with what he had. He loved his family and his church and showed it in countless ways. He cared for his family well and supported his pastor. He was loved and respected by those who knew him and was a living, visible example of a Christian man. He was a member of the Ranger Church of God.
