Elmer Hermes Sullivent, age 82 of Olden, left this earth to be with his Heavenly Father on September 2, 2014. A celebration of Elmer’s life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 6 at the Leon River Cowboy Church in Olden, TX.
Elmer was born January 23, 1932 in the community of Nimrod to Hubert Elmer and Agnes Elizabeth Thomas Sullivent and is a life-long resident of Eastland County. As a young child Elmer picked cotton to help the family earn a living but during his life he became a man of many talents. He was a truck driver, mechanic, drove heavy equipment, and was a farmer. He was the Volunteer Fire Chief of the Olden Fire Department and also a volunteer for the VFW. Elmer loved to go dancing, fishing and spending time with his family. He especially loved the family reunions where he had the opportunity to catch up with the ones he loved. He also loved to watch cowboy movies and listen to Classic Country Music.
Elmer was preceded in death by wives: Alice Marie Boss Sullivent, Lena Delores Smith Sullivent McDermid, and Venora Lea Huddleston Sullivent.
He is also preceded by his parents Hubert Elmer Sullivent and Agnes Elizabeth Thomas Sullivent, Paternal Grandfather William L. Sullivent, Sister - Thelma Louise Sullivent Harden Hodges, Brothers - Billie R. Sullivent and Kenneth Sullivent, a son - Elmer W. Sullivent, CPL U.S. Army, a daughter - Janice Sullivent; and one grandson. He is also preceded in death by son-in-law Leif Nelson, U.S. Navy retired, and step son-in law Tony Price.
Elmer is survived by daughter Patricia Campbell and husband David, a son: Jesse Sullivent and wife Debbie, daughters: Debra Lee Nelson, Donna Barrett, Mary Hernandez, Kelly Bezayiff. Stepchildren: Janith Price, Jack Williams and wife Kathy, Jerry Williams and wife Kathy, sisters Venna Maples and Princess Krantz, 24 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family are asking that memorials be made in Elmer Sullivent's name to Olden Fire Department, PO Box 194, Olden, TX 76466.
