BURLESON – Funeral Services for Elmo Wayne Conner, 87, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Ranger with Pastor Ronny Guess officiating. Interment will follow in Bullock Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Ranger.
Mr. Conner passed away on May 15, 2024 in Burleson. He was born on February 12, 1937 in Haskell, Texas to Elmo Conner and Emma Callie (Carruth) Conner. He attended school and starred in football at Haskell High School. Elmo worked as a truck driver transporting cars for General Motors.
Survivors include a son, Norman Grimes and wife, Deedy of Amarillo, Texas; a daughter, Beckie Herchman and husband, Randy of Lake Tawakoni, Texas; sisters, Emily Allen of Breckenridge, Texas, Jackie Worrel of Bossier City, Louisiana; stepsons, Garry Baker and wife Sanda of Wylie, Texas and Randy Baker of Burleson, Texas; 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Carol Conner; his mother, Callie Moore; his father, Elmo Conner; a sister, Joy Duke; an uncle, Ocie Carruth; and aunts, Dora Holley, Nellie Byrd, Francis Hutchison, Mattie Abbot, and Helen White.
Pallbearers will be, Leo Gilbreath, Brandon Maher, Steve Atchison, Cody Harwell, Hayden Duke, and Johnathan Cuningham. Honorary pallbearer will be Max Bench.
