Emma Lou Benton, 91, passed from this life into the presence of her Heavenly Father on Friday, November 28, 2014. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 30, 2014, at the Flatwood Cemetery, Eastland County, Texas.

Emma Lou, better known as GG to her loving grandchildren & great grandchildren was born August 17, 1923, in Eastland County to Moley Hastings and Erra Adna Byrd. She married Clyde Benton July 8, 1938, in Eastland County, Texas.

She was the Secretary of Eastland Chamber of Commerce for 30 years before her retirement. She was an avid artist and quilt maker and loved to play games with her children and grandchildren.

Emma Lou was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, parents, two sisters, one brother, son-in-law, and one grandson Albert Thackerson.

She is survived by her children Corynne Levens of Comanche, Barbara Benton of Eastland, and Nancey Lowrance and husband Jerry of Morton Valley; grandsons, Rex Thackerson and wife Mary, Phillip Levens and wife Linda, Larry Levens, Jack Lowrance and wife Darla, Jett Lowrance and wife Ashley; granddaughters, Sheila Hicks and husband Danny, Shari Evans and husband Tony, Kerri Montgomery and husband Robert, Clista McNabb and husband Danny, Jill Little and husband James, and Bethney Jacobs and husband Jason; 9 great grandsons, 13 great granddaughters, 6 great great grandsons and 6 great great granddaughters. She is also survived by one sister Sue Garrett and husband Glenn and one brother Roy Byrd.
