Eric Lopez Thomas, age 40, passed from this life to his new life without pain or need of a wheelchair Saturday, November 3, 2018 at his home. Eric’s wish was to be cremated and his family will have a Memorial Service celebrating his life at a later date.
Eric was born June 25, 1978 in Dublin, TX. He became a blessed child and was adopted shortly after by O.W. and Jodeen Smith Thomas until their death, then was blessed again to be adopted by Jeanie and Larry Callison.
Eric was a Jack of all Trades whether it was breaking horses or roofing houses and loved proving to his family he could do anything he set his mind to. In 2001 in Weatherford, TX he married Angel May but in 2004 lost her to a motor vehicle accident.
Eric was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing, riding horses – just anything to be outside. He also loved his many nieces and nephews and was often the one who took them on their first great outdoor adventure. Eric also loved to sing and had an amazing singing voice. From Eric’s Facebook he posted: “The sound of hooves thundering, the look of swift manes flowing, the joy of cantering in the breeze, the smell of sweet leather, the story of my life.” This sums him up well.
Eric is preceded in death by his parents; O.W. Thomas, Jodeen Thomas and Larry Callison and by a sister Jane Thomas.
He is survived by his mother Jeanie Callison and husband Kirk Rieves, brothers; Michael Thomas (Marlene), Steven Thomas (Julie), Nacoma Callison, Garland Callison and Jamie Richardson (Sharon), Sisters: Christy Constantin (Dale), Dena Abraham (Deryle), Diane Sudman (Phil), Melanie Tulloch (David), Gina Thomas (Matt Hernandez), Shara Callison, and Desare Stiles (Thomas). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends, and some members of his biological family.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Eric’s name to your local animal shelter. Eric had a huge soft place in his heart for all animals.
