Eugene Patton, 87 passed peacefully from this life to the next on Sunday, January 5, 2019. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, January 10, 2019 at 11 AM at the Eastland City Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family on Thursday From 6-9 PM at Edwards Funeral Home, 411 S. Mulberry, Eastland.
Eugene Patton was born in Rath County, TX on October 6, 1932 to Jim Isaac Patton and Lucy Mae Purdom Patton. He lived in Desdemona (Hogtown) until he was 7 years of age. He started out with only a 3rd grade education, and later when he was older he got his GED, and then went on to get some college credit. Earlier only having a 3rd grade education, he was employed for 15 years at Brooks in Sweetwater.
Three brothers together, Eugene being one of the three, all at the same time signed up to be in the Army. Eugene proudly served his country, and was a Vietnam Veteran.
Being married twice, his second marriage on December 19, 1962 to Lillie Williamson-Patton lasted 57 years until his passing. He loved to fish so much, to the point that he had a small tackle and bait shop for a short time. Eugene enjoyed horses, and horse racing. He was a family man. Vacations were always taken with the whole family; Jim and Lucy Patton, Lillie, all the kids, and brothers together, made many trips, and created memories that have lasted a lifetime.
He is survived by his wife, daughters, brothers, sisters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Preceding in him in death are his parents, a daughter, a brother, a sister, and a grandchild.
