Fannie Christene " Crickett" Sikes

December 31, 1919 — October 25, 2014

Fannie Christene "Crickett" Sikes, died peacefully October 25, 2014 at The Woodlands Assisted Living in Eastland, Texas. She was born December 31, 1919 in Mills County, Texas, to Elam Dan Kelly and Mary Josephine Brister. Crickett and her mother moved to Eastland in 1931 where she graduated from Eastland High in 1937. She married John C. "Pete" Sikes of Breckenridge on October 9, 1941. They were stationed in St. Augustine, FL and Cape Cod, MA while Pete served in the Army's Co."L", 142nd Infantry, 36th Division. After WWII it was back to Texas where they started their family, raising their two children in Ranger, Snyder and Odessa. Crickett worked in Gulf Oil Pipeline's Communications Dept. in the Midland office for 23 years. After 41 years of marriage she lost Pete to lung cancer in 1982. Crickett and Jack Patton were married July 11, 1986 and moved from Odessa to Eastland in the 1997. They enjoyed traveling, dancing and hard work. Jack passed away in 2007. Throughout her 94 years she spent "the good times" with her dear friends of The Greatest Generation.
Crickett was one of a kind. Well known for her striking red hair and colorful personality. It is fair to say that there are few folks in Eastland County who do not know her. Crickett loved her kids, grandkids and great grandkids, she loved her Boston Terrier "Daisy", she loved ice cream...oh yes, and she cussed!
Survived by her son, Kelly Sikes of Eastland, daughter, Wendy (Larry) Crowder of Midland, TX, granddaughters Heather (Alex) Hale and Hillary (Sean) Parnell, Shelby Sikes and Claudia Rivera and grandson Chase Sikes. Great grandchildren Olivia and Alexis Hale, Presley, Finley and Kolby Parnell. Special Cousins Judy (Bob) Hill and Jack (Colleen) Geddes. Sisters Wanda (Tom) O'Connor and Brenda Kelly.
Visitation will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at Bakker Funeral Home, Eastland, Texas. Funeral Service will be held at Bakker Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, 11:00a.m. with burial at Eastland Cemetery officiated by Tim Dame. We wish to thank loving caregivers Becky Hamby and Lesha Orozco, The Woodland's staff and Hospice.
Crickett's life journey can be summed up in three simple words: “Where's The Dance?" We know she went through those Pearly Gates ready for a Bob Wills LIVE in Heaven Dance with Pete, Jack and all of her "Greatest Generation" friends.
