Forrest D. Keith, 90, of Quanah, Texas, formerly of Eastland, Texas passed away on March 9, 2014. Services will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 3:00 pm at Daugherty Street Church of Christ under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Eastland. Burial will follow at Eastland City Cemetery in Eastland, Texas. The services will be officiated by Larry Roberts and Mark Burgess. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Daugherty Street Church of Christ from 1:30 pm until 3:00 pm.
Forrest was born in Glen Rose, Texas on May 5, 1923 to Willie Lee Keith and Eunice (Hobson) Keith. Forrest attended schools in Desdemona, Mangum, Carbon, and Ranger. He graduated from Carbon High School. He served four years in the US Navy in WWII. He graduated from Texas Tech in 1950. He taught high school vocational agriculture for four years. He was employed by the USDA Soil Conservation Service for 31 years. He retired in January of 1983 in Mineola, Texas. He worked for Farm and Ranch Real Estate in East Texas for ten years.
He was married to Iva Nell Kennedy Keith for 32 years. He moved to Eastland, Texas in 1994. After Iva’s passing, he married Grace Mizell on February 14, 1997 in Stephenville, Texas.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Wanda, Pat, and Glidden, one brother: Harold Keith, and his wife of 32 years: Iva Nell Kennedy Keith.
Forrest is survived by his wife: Grace Lee Keith of Eastland, Texas, three daughters: Sheri Phipps and husband Dewain of Quanah, Texas, Vicki Garrett of Petrolia, Texas, Wanda Ritchie and husband Richard of Quanah, Texas; one stepdaughter: Ella Burgess and husband Mark of Clyde; one stepson: Ronald Espey and wife Lynn of Mineola, Texas; sisters: Helen May, and Judy Miller; brothers: Carl Keith, Melvin Keith, and Bill Keith; ten grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Quanah Senior Citizens.
