Frances Louise Canet-Carter,
Daughter of Lula Lee and Oliver Ammie Canet passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 21, 2019. Louise was born on February 2nd, 1934 at her family home in Eastland. Louise was the youngest of her siblings Catherine Hazel Bond and Oliver Buddy Canet. She attended school in Olden where she excelled in sports and academics.
Once she graduated she worked at the telephone company as a switch board operator. She then went on to open a string of restaurants: the first being the Dairy Kreem in Eastland; then she moved to Sweetwater and opened the Jordan Drive In; and in 1977 she opened Louise’s Café in Eastland that is still running strong to this day. She brought joy to many through her food and tenacious spirit. In 2002 she retired, spending her time enjoying nature and her family.
She survived by her two loving daughters Diana Ahrlett of Eastland and Teresa Stoever of Austin, her supportive son-in-law David Ahrlett, and her caring granddaughters Holly Stoever of Austin and Julie Finley of Eastland. Her viewing will be held at Edwards Funeral Home at 411 S Mulberry St. Eastland TX from 10am-12pm Wednesday January, 23rd and her services will be held at 2:00pm later that day at Eastland City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers family request donations be made in Louise’s name to Solaris Hospice (2250 South FM 51 Ste. 400, Decatur, TX 76234), which aid indigent individuals in the finals stages of life. Frances Louise Carter will be deeply missed.
