– Mrs. Frances C. Clymer nee Harris was born March 2, 1914, and went to be with her Lord on October 21, 2013. Originally from Fordyce, Arkansas, she spent her youth in Eastland. Frances was the last survivor of the nine children of Mack and Catherine Harris.
Frances Clymer was a confident and consistent follower of Jesus Christ. She studied her Bible and made careful notes of familiar verses which inspired her that day. Her faith allowed a peaceful acceptance of all of the challenges that life brought her way. Thus, she quickly adapted, even in her elder years, when she moved with her daughter’s family to Farmington, New Mexico; Casper, Wyoming; and Tyler, Texas.
Frances was an avid fan of baseball, which she played as a youth and with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards and board games – a real Skip-Bo wizard. She had a passion for exercise even in her last days. In September, “Patch” or “Patches” as she was affectionately known by friends and family, played in her retirement community’s handbell choir at the opening of the 2013 East Texas State Fair.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 2 at 11:00 A.M., and a celebration of her life will follow at 1:00 P.M. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland, Texas.
Survivors include her daughter, Candy Hill and husband Danny of Tyler, Texas; grandsons, Tye and Dan Hill and their families of Reston, Virginia; son, James Michael Clymer of San Antonio, Texas; and grandson, Michael Clymer of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Frances is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and their families.
