Frederick Allen Truex, 92 yrs old, of Eastland TX, died Dec. 2nd. Fred was born Aug 13, 1922, in Corning, Ohio. He was the youngest of 9 and born to Randolph Doss Truex, and Patience Roberts.
Fred attended HS in Newark Ohio where he was active in sports. He went on to work for Curtis Wright Aviation in Columbus Ohio as a pattern maker. During WWII he enlisted in the Marines and served as a staff sergeant and instructor in aircraft woodwork.
After the war, he moved to the Washington DC area where he worked for the David Taylor Research and Development Center for 34 years. His work on submarine research lead to secret clearance and several trips to Lake Pond Oreille in Bayview, Idaho, where he participated in over two hundred 1/4 scale model experiments involving submarine acoustics. In 1969, he moved to Couer D'Alene, Idaho, where he lived until 1995 when he moved to Texas.
Fred was an active sportsman, a member of 1st Baptist Church of Eastland. He was a member of the Couer D'Alene Elks Lodge for 32 yrs, and an active member of the Ranger Lion's Club.
He is survived by his wife of 29 yrs, Janelle Wright Truex, daughter Louanne T Christian and son Gary Truex and stepsons Steve and Stuart Wright, grandchildren Felix Edward Christian, Melanie and Ginger Wright and canine friends: Sally, Daisy and Brandy.
