George Dexter Falls

George Dexter Falls, 94, passed away Thursday July 24, 2014 in De Leon. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Merriman Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Merriman Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Edwards Funeral Home Saturday from 5 to 7:00 p.m.
George was born December 22, 1919 in Eastland County to Phillip Thomas Falls and Etta Lou Mainard. He married Chrystal Kathryn Jackson on December 21, 1941 in Strawn, TX. She preceded him in death on Nov. 18, 2013. He served in the U.S. Army. He was an auto mechanic working for Anderson Chevrolet and later for himself. He taught auto mechanics for 10 years at Ranger Jr. College. He was a member of the Lions Club and Merriman Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by 1 brother and two sisters.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Falls and wife Frances; daughters, Jan Becnel and husband Jay and Joyce Speed and husband David; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Owen Frederick Falls; 2 sisters, Inez Mary Hunt and Mabel Ramsey; and a host of relatives and many friends.
