Georgia “Ruth” Thomas was known for oversized rose-colored sunglasses, pink nail polish, and strategic card playing skills. Born on March 1, 1942, in Cisco, Texas, Georgia lived with a spark that made everyone feel special. She passed away peacefully from lung cancer on August 24, 2024, surrounded by family at home.
She attended Cisco High School. On February 27, 1958, she married Lowell Thomas, beginning 66 adventurous years. They co-owned several businesses including a shrimping business in Corpus Christi. Georgia earned her cosmetology license in her 20s and spent 40 years making her clients look good. She had a passion for painting with many of her beautiful art pieces adorning the walls of her family’s homes. Georgia loved seeing the sights in New York City and winning money in Las Vegas. She was a devoted pet lover and survived by her Maltapoo, Bella. Above all, she was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother “Wewe,” aunt, and friend.
Georgia is survived by her husband, Lowell; her daughter, Dr. Lesa Thomas, and her husband, George Falk; her granddaughters, Katie Murch, Sharlene Hernandez and her husband, David, and Amrin Shaikh; her great-grandson; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families.
