Gerald Bailey Tyler was born September 28, 1944, in Dallas, Texas and passed peacefully with his family at his side on September 26, 2022. Private services will be held Thursday at Edwards Funeral Home, 215 E. Housley, Strawn, TX followed by burial in the Whitlock Family Cemetery.
“Jerry” as he was known to his family and friends worked for the United States Postal Service in Ferris, Texas for over 31 years. He served over 40 years in the Masonic Lodge. Jerry was the Past Master of the Ferris Lodge #460; Past District Deputy Grand Master of Masonic District #18; 32nd Degree Scottish Rite; Member of Ennis Council of Royal and Select Masters; Ennis Royal Arch Chapter; and Golden Trowel Recipient.
Jerry grew up in a ranching family in Ferris, Texas and attended school in Wilmer Hutchins. He later graduated from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas. He was an avid hunter, antique collector, and gardener. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ferris. He spent the last 5 years living in Gordon, Texas on a working ranch with his family. He truly loved living on the family ranch and will be buried there where he will be surrounded by his family.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Vercher Tyler, of 38 years, his son William Krecek and wife Shannon, Sandra Whitlock and husband Dean, his brother Roland Tyler, and his sister Carol Trees. He has four grandchildren: Zack Crawford, Collin Crawford & wife Ashley, Cason Crawford, and Alexandra Whitlock.
He is preceded in death by his Father, Roland Tyler and Mother, Vivian Tyler.
Casket Bearers: William Krecek, Dean Whitlock, Zack Crawford, Collin Crawford, Cason Crawford, Leo Maldonado.
In lieu of flowers, donations to benefit the Scottish Rite Hospital of Dallas, Texas.
