Hal E. Walton Sr, of Ranger, Texas, passed from this life surrounded by family on September 14, 2021 in Wichita Falls, Texas at the age of 85. Hal was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico on November 29, 1935 to Edgar and Vera Walton; enlisted in the Navy in 1954; married Mary Pugh in 1958; transferred to Chief Warrant Officer in the Army in 1972; retired from military service in 1975 and moved to Ranger, Texas where he worked in retail, oil field supply, pig farming, LP gas, and Christmas tree farming.
Hal was preceded in death by both his parents, a sister Jenny Rawls, and his wife of 63 years, Mary. Hal is survived by two sisters, Martha Ervin and husband Tom, and Peggy King and husband Lee; a brother, Tom and wife Shirley; four children, Hal Jr. and wife Camilla, Patricia Stancill and husband Randy, Michael and wife Dena, and Kathy McGarry and husband Mike; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
Hal’s devotion to family was superseded only by his devotion to his God. A faithful member of the Mesquite and Rusk Church of Christ in Ranger, Texas, Hal served as a deacon then as an elder for many years. He lived a full life and blessed many along the way.
Graveside service will be at Crossroads Cemetery, Ranger, Texas Friday, September 17 at 2:00 pm.
