Harold Glenn Gunstanson

March 10, 1947 — September 14, 2022

Rev. Harold Glenn Gunstanson, went to his heavenly reward on September 14, 2022, surrounded by his children.
Dad was born on March 10, 1947, to Arnold and Jewell Gunstanson of Henderson County Texas. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1964-1967. Upon leaving the service, he married Patricia Ann Clemmons on May 19, 1967. They thought they would be together forever, but in 1990 Patricia gained her wings and went to be with the Lord after a short battle with cancer. Together, they had 4 children. Rev. Gerald Gunstanson and wife Lisa of Ranger, TX, Darell Gunstanson and wife Trixie of Malakoff, TX, Clifton Gunstanson and wife Amy of Atlanta, TX, Amy Washburn and wife Debora of Benbrook, TX.
A short time later, Dad would marry Martha Frances Justice and remain married to her until she went to be with the Lord in 2017. Her children, Walter Justice and wife Cheryl, Tammy Donaho and husband Chris, Rhonda Justice and Mark Bausch, Jana Olivieri and husband Danny, and Jeff Justice all lovingly referred to Dad as “Pop.” Our blended family loved to watch as God began to write Dad and Mom’s story.
Dad was a pastor with the United Pentecostal Church for 39 years. He started his first home missions church in Kemp, TX in 1980. Starting in a store front, and eventually moving into a church building, he remained as pastor there for 9 years. His next home missions work, also started in a store front, was in in Farmersville, TX where he pastored for several years. His heart was won over by the East Texas pine trees, and Dad would pastor his first already established church in Deadwood, TX, where he would remain for 8 years. Feeling the call back to North Texas, he started his final home missions work in Princeton, TX where he built a beautiful church and pastored there until 2016 when he received his diagnosis. His legacy of winning souls could be found in street services, home bible studies, nursing home services, and knocking doors. Dad’s heartbeat was being a pastor, and oh how he loved people.
His anointed singing was well known, and he won many souls for the Lord by telling his story of deliverance and singing, “Thanks to Calvary” which would eventually become his anthem. Dad loved being a pastor, and has left a legacy that will never be forgotten.
In his last days, you could find him praying and “pastoring” at the assisted living center. Telling folks that The Woodlands was his final home mission’s church. His guitar playing and praying could be heard in the halls of the center as his love for the Lord was something that Alzheimer’s couldn’t take away.
Dad is survived by his loving children, along with 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
