Henry David "H.D." Turner

Henry David “H.D.” Turner, 98 of Gordon, passed away Saturday December 17, 2016 in San Angelo. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Gordon with Dr. John Gerlach officiating. Burial will follow in the New Gordon Cemetery directed by Edwards Funeral Home of Strawn. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Mr. Turner was born May 4, 1918 in Norton, in Runnels County, to Ira Landreth Turner and Ettie (Cope) Turner. He attended school in Norton and Happy. He married his wife of 69 years, Mary Josephine Elkins, in 1942 in Mineral Wells. She preceded him in death on May 29, 2011. He was a mechanic, as well as rancher and farmer. He enjoyed the cowboy way of life, and loved to listen to music and travel. He received his 60 year pin from the Gordon Masonic Lodge AF&AM. He was active in the First Baptist Church of Gordon.
Survivors include a son, James D. Turner and wife Stella; a daughter, Alta Lynn Gerlach and husband John; a daughter in law, Madge Turner; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
