Homer Virgil “H.V.” Elmore, 78 of Eastland, passed away Sunday January 17, 2016 in Abilene. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, 411 S. Mulberry, Eastland, TX. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
H.V. Elmore, born June 26 1937 in Gorman, Texas, went to join many of his loved ones and our Lord Jesus on January 17 2016, at the age of 78. He passed away in Abilene with the close company of friends, family and prayers, and his children by his side.
H.V. was preceded in death by his mother and father, Emma May and J.O. Elmore, and brothers Clifton David and Aden Owen, all of Eastland. He is survived by his brother Jefferson Monroe of Clarksburg, California, sisters Ina May Brady of Cisco and Nina Fay Graham of Azle; four children Tammie and Eddie Cockrell of Eastland, Rick and Betheny Elmore of Grand Prairie, Stacie and Andy Taylor of Eastland, Scott and Tonya Elmore of Springtown, their mother Annette Robertson of Brownwood, his companion Joyce Elmore, and a full tackle box of grandchildren, great-grandkids, extended family and dear friends.
H.V. spent his life taking care of his family by building homes, while also trying to eliminate the catfish populations from the Rio Grande, Brazos River and Lake Leon. For the days he had to stay on dry land, he enjoyed traveling, working his garden, solving jig-saw puzzles, playing dominos and checking his Lotto numbers.
Services to celebrate his life will be Wednesday January 20 at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland, Texas. Visitation begins at 11:00 am with his memorial service starting at 1:00 pm. A private graveside service will follow later at the Romney Cemetery south of Cisco, Texas.
