On September 15, 1918, Ima Ruth Taylor was born in Stephenville, Texas to Fred D. and Leona May Oxford Hale. 97 years later she passed away on November 28, 2015, at her home in Mansfield, Texas, where she had lived since 1995.
During most of those almost 100 years, she shared her smile, her love for people, and many talents in Eastland, Texas. She was a longtime secretary at Eastland High School, a founding member/officer of the EHS Homecoming Committee, and a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church.
On August 24, 1940, she married Andy J. Taylor in Eastland. He died in 1972. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Maifred Hale Cullen of Ft. Worth; and granddaughter, Kelley Cooper of Cisco.
She is survived by her brother; Leon Hale and wife Babette of Houston; daughters, Sandra Taylor Alsup of Mansfield, and Jan Taylor Cooper and husband Joe of Keller; grandson, Shawn Alsup and wife Amie of Mansfield; granddaughter, Kori Cooper Werth and husband Tanner of Keller; five great-granddaughters, Natalie English of Frisco, Kailyn and Makenna Alsup of Mansfield, and Jansyn and Kellyn Werth of Keller; nephew, Mark Hale; and niece, Becky Hale Fisher both of Houston.
Family visitation will be 5~7 p.m. Thursday Dec. 4th at Edwards Funeral Home, 411 S. Mulberry St, Eastland, Texas with funeral services Friday, Dec. 5th at 1:00 p.m at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Eastland Cemetery.
