Lake Palo Pinto – Jack Gordon Yarnell, 86, was reunited with loved ones and all his precious memories when he passed peacefully on Monday, October 23, 2017 in Weatherford, Texas. A graveside service will be held at New Gordon Cemetery in Gordon, TX on Tuesday, Nov. 7th at 11 a.m. under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home, Strawn, TX.
Jack was born in Fort Worth, Texas to Shirley Gordon and Ruth Kinser Yarnell where he lived until his retirement from Lockheed Martin and moved, with wife Joanne, to their true home on Lake Palo Pinto. He proudly served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and his favorite colors were red, white and blue.
He was an adventurer who sky dived, scuba dived, raced motorcycles, ran 10Ks and participated in many bicycle races. He was a fisherman, cook and organic gardener. Jack loved God’s green earth and felt closest to the Lord on a lake or in a forest. He was a lover of people and animals and was mild mannered, polite and just really nice. If you were lucky enough to meet him and Joanne, you were their friend. And they celebrated you!
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Phil Yarnell, and his wife of 45 years, Joanne Whitmore Yarnell.
Survivors: Daughter Lisa Phillips and husband David, grandchildren Christina Roarick and husband Kwirt and Valerie Phillips and fiancé Jacob Davidson, three great-grandchildren, brother Ralph Yarnell and wife Nettie, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Our love and thanks to his caring family at Peach Tree Place who gave him so much love and comfort in his last years.
Memorials: The family suggest charitable gifts to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) or CARE Animal Rescue of Parker County (care4rescue.com).
